I trained at Bretton Hall College of Education (Leeds University) as a Primary School Teacher and Music Specialist. During this period I studied the piano with concert pianist Keith Swallow. I qualified as a teacher in June 1984. I taught on a full time basis from 1984-1991 working firstly at Great Moor Infant School before moving to Cheadle Primary School in 1987. I returned to work as a supply teacher in 1997 once our sons, Timothy and Daniel, were in full time education. I have worked in a number of schools including Nevill Rd Infants, Ladybrook Primary School and Hursthead Primary School. |
I trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and at Liverpool University. I have given recitals throughout Britain and in France and Germany. I qualified as a teacher in June 1981. I
was awarded a composition prize in the USA in the 2008
Alienor
Harpsichord Competition.
My organ composition "St.Deiniol's Well" was featured in the Second Annual Festival of New Organ Music held in London in October 2007. |
Beginner to Diploma level taught.
All styles covered including jazz and the latest chart hits.
Traditional and popular music theory including coaching for GCSE and A level music exams.
Coaching for admission to Oxford and Cambridge Music Courses
(recent successes at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge and Merton College Oxford)

Getting Started
Younger pupils are taught using the Bastien Piano Basics "Piano for the Young Beginner Primer A"
Older pupils (including adults) begin with "The Complete Piano Player Book 1" - also used with beginner keyboard players.
Don't worry if you do not have a piano! You can make excellent progress using a keyboard provided it has 61 full size keys. Later, you may prefer to buy a digital piano.
